Dry British
Dry British (Steve Millington, d. 2020) was an artist, illustrator, sign writer and engraver. He combined a distinctive illustrative style, with an expert hand in sign-writing, and his northern British humour.
After graduation Bolton College of Art in the late Eighties, Steve trained as a glass engraver and designer at Lancashire Crystal. He then trained as a traditional sign painter and has recently found his true calling as a freelance illustrator.
His influences were many and varied, from Peter Blake to Quentin Blake, Carnaby kitsch to the dadaists. His work managed to be both current and regain a sense of timelessness.
Dry British's work has included LP covers, ad campaigns, clothing designs, animations and an ongoing series of books.
