Artist statement:

In this painting, Bastet appears as a sleek black cat, sitting tall and completely self-possessed. She’s framed by a glowing gold halo against a deep red background, which makes her feel both sacred and slightly intimidating—in the best way. Her golden eyes lock forward with that unmistakable cat expression: calm, knowing, and just a little judging. The ornate gold collar, set with rich blue and green stones, and the small jeweled piece on her forehead give her a quiet royal elegance. I wanted her to feel powerful but natural—like she rules the room simply by existing, and she absolutely knows it.
